The Mundra SEZ has got the distinct advantage over any other SEZ in India with the In zone presence India's largest private commercial sea port. The units have Direct Port Delivery Facility; wherein import consignments are not moved to the CFS; instead units can take their delivery directly from the Port. Similarly export consignments are also not required to be the CFS, they can directly be delivered to the port. This, in addition of bringing ease of doing business, adds to significant savings in both financial and time terms.

Mundra Port has deep draft, all weather and direct berthing facilities. The port is capable of handling

  • Besides, the port being an all-weather port with no loss of operational days, makes it a port of choice for trade. Mundra port also boasts of superior support infrastructure and assets which includes a large fleet of Tugs, Dredgers. These ensure uninterrupted and smooth operations 24x7 in all environments at the port.

    The terminal infrastructure at the port is capable of simultaneously handling multiple vessels of different class. For dry cargo, a set of high capacity Grab Ship Unloaders (GSUs), and Mobile Harbours Cranes ensure quick discharge and loading of vessels. A large fleet of support equipment such as excavators, pay loaders and mobile equipments ensure uninterrupted and smooth operations across the entire terminal. Additionally, the port has a fully integrated conveyor system for smooth and fast transit of cargo.

    For liquid cargo, pipelines of varying size and types enable efficient handling marine tankers.

    For containers, state-of-the-art rail mounted quay cranes have been deployed.

    The multipurpose terminal in Mundra has multiple covered godowns and open yards for storage of large volumes of cargo. The covered godown can store over 630,000MT of cargo at any given point in time. Open yards, with a total area of 1.06 million sq. mtrs., have been earmarked for minerals, timber, steel and project cargo.

    The liquid terminal has a tank-farm with 97 tanks capable of storing 426,000 KL of products ranging from Petroleum Oils, Petrochemicals, Chemicals and Vegetable oils. The entire tank farm is equipped with automatic radar gauging system for accurate and real time monitoring.

    Airports

      Mundra Airstrip is licensed under 'Public Use Category'. Air Traffic Control (ATC) is operated by Airport Authority of India (AAI).
      Mundra Airport have night landing facility.
      Present runway is 2200 m, which can be extended upto 4000 m.
      1100 Ha have been earmarked for developing Logistic Hub, MRO and Terminal Buildings

    The nearest commercial airports are located at Bhuj (~ 60 Kms) and Kandla (~ 50 Kms) having scheduled flights from Mumbai, while the nearest International Airport is at Ahmedabad (~ 400 Kms).

    Road Connectivity

      National Highway 8A Extension runs parallel to Mundra SEZ with a seamless connectivity to the zone. The national highway also connects zone to Ahmedabad- Gandhinagar and National Highway 8A Extension (New Delhi-Mumbai) along with
      National Highway -15 as an option to reach the northern hinterland. From Mundra SEZ, Gandhidham can be accessed through State Highway-6 and Bhuj (District HQ) by State Highway-48

    Rail Connectivity

      Mundra SEZ; through its in-zone rail, connects to the national rail network for smooth cargo movement to & fro the hinterland. The doubling of the 64 kms private rail line between Mundra & Adipur (near Gandhidham) is completed and it will facilitate faster evacuation of cargo.
      Nearest railway stations for passengers are at Gandhidham ~ 55 kms and Bhuj ~ 60 kms. Mundraport have 14 rakes and 6 locomotives, which increases accessibility to the DTA units.
